Jemput (Banana 'Cakes')
These are really nice if you eat them on the spot,
but if you leave them in the fridge ever they'll get
hard and it'll suck.
Air fryers will NOT revive them.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
-
4 really ripe bananas. The riper they are, the
more you can save on the sugar. Mostly because
the bananas are sweeter that way. If you have
access to them, buy Latundan bananas in
particular.
- Sugar (To taste, but you won't need much)
-
Plain Flour (Apparently it's not pronounced
'Fla'?? It's 'Flower'?? Why??)
- Salt (Just a pinch. It's not for taste)
- 1 Egg if you want to
-
Oil. I don't know how much but enough to fry the
thing
STEPS:
-
Mash them. Not too smooth, though. Just mash
them until they're a gooey mess and have (quite)
a bit of texture
-
+1tsp sugar. If not sweet add more. But not too
much. But that's my personal preference
- +¾ cups plain flour, +1 pinch of salt
-
Mix thoroughly. If you feel its too watery add
more flour and keep going
-
If you feel a little silly add an egg in the mix
too
-
Boil some amount of oil in a pot. My mom never
wrote down how much so I just guess. If in doubt
just add more
-
Using a teaspoon, drop a heap of beter into the
oil. It's frying now. This is why I actually
call it fried banana and not 'banana cakes'
unlike what the recipe was labelled as.
-
Turn them on both sides until they're a really
nice golden brown all over
-
Drain on paper towel (which is on a plate) to
remove excess oil
- FINISHED!!!!! Okay go eat it now
NOTES:
I haven't tried yet but I think it'd go well with
whipped cream
School-(barely)-famous
Blue Lemonade (+Whipped Cream)
My school did a thing for the economics students
where we got to sell things and all the profits
would go to some charity. So naturally, my group
made lemonade. We ended up doubling our starting
money and it's now my lifelong bragging right.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
-
Heavy Cream
(You will be whipping the cream yourself)
(You can just get whipped cream if you don't
wanna whip it yourself)
-
Cheap unbranded lemonade
(Literally any kind)
-
Jelly crystals
(I used blue rasberry jelly because it's cheaper
than blue raspberry syrup)
-
A Hand Mixer (or a Whisk if you want to break
your hand)
STEPS (Lemonade)
- Get the lemonade.
-
I need you to hear me out on this one, but.
Gradually add the Jelly crystals STRAIGHT from
the bag. And INTO. The BOTTLE. It WILL fizz.
This is normal. Just keep going until it's
somewhat blue or whatever color it is.
-
Screw the lid and SHAKE THAT THING until it
dissolves and you can't see the crystals.
- Serve or leave in fridge until whenever
STEPS (Cream)
-
Put ALL the cream you want to use and chuck it
into a large bowl.
-
If you're feeling fancy add some of those
crystals into the cream too. Gives it flavour
and cronch.
-
Turn on the mixer and mix until stiff peaks.
If you're using a mixer it'll take about 10 to
15 min, probably.
-
If you're on the hand whisk, well, I have no
idea how long that'll take. Probably forever if
it were me.
-
Eat directly out of the bowl OR add on top of
the lemonade and wonder why anybody thought
lemonade and cream would taste good together.
NOTES:
You won't believe this but I had to collect and
review complaints from our 2 day business and nearly
80% of the complaints said "Why would you add
whipped cream onto lemonade. I don't like the way it
tastes".
The other 20% was "Why is the lemonade crunchy".
(Hint: It was the jelly crystals)
Ignore This (For Later Use)
